“I have been advised by Water Service that in order to improve the network and reduce the risk of disruptions to the water supply, steps are being taken to upgrade the water mains in the Aughnagun area of Newry,” says Eddie McGrady.
“Residents of this area have experienced frequent interruptions to their supply and also the problem of discoloured water due to bursts on the mains.
The last such occurrence was recorded on the weekend of the 12-13 March 2005, and after making representations to Water Service to affirm the need for remedial action, I have received confirmation that work will be undertaken to reduce the recurrence of this problem.
“I will make follow up representations to Water Service to ensure this scheme is undertaken as soon as possible.”
